WebGUI does not show HW status

IHAC that installed two new appliances (5230). One went in with no problems. The other one would not boot because the BIOS was set wrong. That was fixed, but now the WebGUI will not show the HW status.

As a test we tared up the /opt/SYMCnbappws directory on the working appliance and untared it on the broken one. Then we could not even login. After restoring the old directory we could log in, but HW status still did not work.

Has anyone seen this before?

Gruss,

Tobi

Credential test fails BE 2012

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hi,

i need your helping solving problems regarding BE2012.

I've read a lot of articles but not helped solving my problems.

I'm using BE 2012, Windows Server 2008 an Exchange 2010.

My first problem is that the credential test failes on Microsoft Information Store. Mailbox databases and PF database. I've check all security groups and access rights. All are ok. I've restart the services all ok. The backup doesn't failes.

exchange.JPG

Sinds a couple of days my incremental backup of exchange turns in to a full backup what causes my Qnap runs out of disk space. A normal job should be around 25Gb for a incremental and 1,3Tb for a full backup. Now the incremental is 1,3Tb.

exchange incremental.JPG

I've checked some settings in the job but can't find anything.

I've also a SQL backup job. The credentail test on this also failes but the backup itself is ok.

Please help.

Hi All,

Exchange 2010 DAG - only passive copy backup - from two exchange nodes over LAN.

version -

7.5.0.6 on exchange nodes

7.5.0.5 on master and media server

First time backup - I followed all the steps mentioned in this technote - TECH191343. I dont see any failures but the snapshot creation is still showing in progress for more than 30 hrs.

The same policy configuration is working well on the other exchange DAG.

Upgrading agent from 12.5 to 2012 is hangining on "Validating install"

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

I ended up following symantecs document to manually remove the 12.5 agent from my 2003 std server. I rebooted and now I'm trying to get the 2012 agent to install which is completing but keeps getting hung up at the end.

It just sits there on "Validating Install" with msiexec.exe eating up 50% forever, I finally just have to kill the service. Has anyone run into this or have any ideas?  Thanks.

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Downloaded the trialware today, Nov 15th and got a n email saying to apply the license before oct 31st????

I cannot use the tialware right now as it says it has expired.

I called support, who put me on hold for 45 minutes, then told me to call sales support to get a new key.

They then send me the same expired key.

How am I going to make this work before purchasing for our entire coast to coast company if i can't even try it out?

Unable to perform a restore from tape

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hello forum,

I hope someone may be able to shed some advice on this situation. I have a client that currently has Backup Exec 2010 R2 (without the new SP) that needs to retain old tape backups for retention policy purposes. We are currently attempting to recatalog tapes as the environment that Backup Exec previously managed has changed.

When attempting to catalog a tape, it appears that BE services drop, and the job goes into a recovered status. Inventory jobs appear to complete successfully though.

If I want to perform a test restore from tape, the process, from what I understand, is:

  1. Inventory the device
  2. Catalog the media
  3. Insert additional media if requested
  4. Perform restore

Is there a step that is being skipped? Any idea why services always drop in the middle of a job?

Thanks in advance,

Jordan

Throughput is very low for the new drives

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hi All,

We have bought two LTO6 Drives for HP TL4000 Library. We are having a very low throughput for backups with these drives like not more than 30MB/sec which we should actually get like around 150-160MB/sec.

Our OS is Windows 2007 SP2

We are using netbackup 7.1 for the backups.

Can someone help me to improve my drives performance. Do I need to make any configuration changes.

We are using a cleaning media which we used earlier when we had LTO4 drives. Its ID shows as CLNU00L1. Can we use this for LTO6 Drives. This may sound silly but i'm very new to this. Please help me out.

Hello,

After a DR we had the master server previously added to Opscenter is now showing as retired. Is there a way to change this Status. I don't to want to delete it because its going to lose its data. Is there a way to merge data between the retired and the " new domain" ?

Thanks

problem with CASO and MMS

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hi all,

I have a problem created with one of the BE support that is he deleted the MMS from the CAS server consol without disabling the communication between the CAS and the MMS which caused the MMS not to be controlled by the CAS any more and no link between them

I tried to repair both CAS and MMS with no success and also tried to manage MMS locally and then revert back to centralised also no success.

I think the problem with the BEDB itself but unfortunately I don't have any backup or dump for it

I have this event ID 33152 shown continuesly on CAS server

Adamm Database Event: Handle Failure!
Error = ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE
Server = "CESUDB04"
Active Node = ""
Instance = ""
Database = "BEDB"
Connection String = "DRIVER=SQL Server;SERVER=CESUDB04;DATABASE=BEDB;App=BEWS PVL"

This is urgent issue and your fast response is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Tape library sharing between NetApp NAS and media server

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

I am working on a backup topology design. The customer has one NetApp SAN/NAS with FC tape out port, and one HP MSL tape library with two FC LTO5 drives. They will have a BE 2010 or BE 2012 media server with FC port, and several Hyper-V with FC ports. All FC ports connects to the SAN switch.

The question is that is it possible to use one tape library to backup NAS using NDMP, as well backup those Hyper-V LAN-free? If yes, what license do they need? I know if using NBU, they just  need a SSO. How about for BE? Any difference if use BE 2010 or BE 2012?

Thanks,

Henry

Hi,

I am having a strange behaviour in BE2012 where the job activity page does not show anything but the backup duplicate to tape is running on the background?

I can see the job rate: and the bytes going up but everything else seem to be missing?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
